Background
In 2007 Worthing Borough Council approved proposals for the Teville Gate site, which included a swimming pool, multiplex cinema, restaurants, shops and 260 apartments.
However, following Worthing Borough Council’s decision to locate the swimming pool elsewhere in the town it was necessary to redesign our plans for Teville Gate.
The Hanson Capital Management team has worked hard to develop new plans to meet the needs and aspirations of Worthing and which can be delivered in the current changed economic circumstances.
The new proposals now also include land occupied by Teville Gate House which is currently occupied by the Inland Revenue who will be vacating the building. This enables a larger site to be brought forward for regeneration and enables a more exciting, comprehensive scheme to be designed. The enlarged site will now include a new landscaped, pedestrian friendly design for Railway Approach.
To make it easier and safer to access the site from Chapel Road and Broadwater Road, major pedestrian-friendly improvements to the highways around the Worthing Gateway site are proposed. These include the removal of the two existing roundabouts and their replacement with new signalized pedestrian crossings.
The revised scheme will bring real benefits for Worthing, by delivering new homes, 1,000 new jobs, an enhanced station environment and an exciting range of new leisure and shopping facilities.
