The Benefits

The new plans for Worthing Gateway will:

• Create a brand new facility for Worthing that will give the whole town a massive boost and signal the start of a new era for the town’s retail, leisure and visitor trade
• Strengthen the viability and enhance the vitality of the town centre by attracting more visitors to Worthing
• Provide 260 much needed new homes close to the town centre which will generate additional custom for existing shops and services
• Generate extra all-year-round business for Worthing through a new Conference and Exhibition Centre that will give an added dimension to what the town has to offer to visitors and potential investors
• Create an estimated 1,000 new full and part-time jobs for the local community, plus hundreds of jobs through the construction phase of the project
• Provide new shops, including a supermarket, and greatly improved parking facilities
• Deliver improved access to and from the site through pedestrian friendly highway layouts and high quality public spaces
• Create a new, pleasant route between the station and the town centre making journeys quicker, safer and more enjoyable
• Provide new bus lay-bys a taxi rank and drop off/pick-up point for the development
