Hanson Capital Management has unveiled new plans to transform the entrance to Worthing that will:
- Create a stunning new ‘front door’ for Worthing
- Establish a major leisure and entertainment destination for Worthing residents and visitors to the town, including a wide array of attractions that will put Worthing ‘on the map’
- Act as a catalyst for further regeneration of the town centre
The £150 million Worthing Gateway scheme, designed by Russ Drage Architects, will transform Teville Gate and contribute to the future of Worthing Town Centre and includes:
- A 9 screen multiplex Cinema
- 260 new homes
- A 100-bedroom high quality hotel
- New restaurants and coffee shops
- A new Conference and Exhibition Centre that will host a wide range of events, from conferences and exhibitions to arts, private functions and community events
- Office suites/business space
- A new supermarket
- Extensive landscaped public spaces
- Car parking, together with disabled, parent/child, cycle and motorcycle parking
- Enhanced pedestrian circulation connecting the town centre with the Station.
- Improved traffic management and new junction layouts with pedestrian-friendly crossings
A Planning Application is planned for late summer 2010.
If Planning Permission is granted by early 2011, demolition work could start in Spring 2011.
If the above timetable is followed, the completion of the project would be in 2014.
